Last Release of 2007...VERILY WHITE HILLS


Last night marked our last show of 2007 and our last CD-r Release for 2007.
The show was a stunning collaboration between Dave W. of WHITE HILLS and VERILY (the music project of NYC sculptor and circuit bender Charles Goldman). The performance was a 35 minute piece of improvised electronic music.
The CD-r was released to mark this special occasion and is the second CD-r release in the on going WHITE HILLS MUSIC Collaboration series (the first being Wish You Weren't Here with WHITE PEE). It contains two tracks from our rehearsals totaling 29 minutes. Both tracks are sprawling ambient pieces composed live with no overdubs. Packaged in a white cardboard slip case with hand-done logo by Charles Goldman on the front cover.
This CD-r release is extremely limited...only a small amount are left over from our show last night. It will be sold on a first come first served basis.
Cost is $10 for all U.S. residents and $12 for the rest of the world. Prices include shipping. I accept payment via paypal. If you are interested send me an email and I'll give you the rest of the purchasing information needed.
This release will only be sold by me.

WHITE HILLS Live in Brooklyn this Friday, November 30th!


White Hills will be playing at Club Europa 98-104 Meserole Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11222 at Manhattan Ave. on Friday, November 30th with Kinski and Oneida. Doors open at 7pm and White Hills plays at 8pm.

UK Tour Round-up, New Release "HEADS ON FIRE" and more...


Back in NYC and still decompressing from the amazing UK stint we just completed! We wish it didn't have to end. First off we'd like to give a HUGE thanks to the amazing DøGNTANK. It was an honor and pleasure to share the stage with this fantastic band. Each night they pushed us harder to perform better. DÀggen, Antronhy øH, and Samƒwe look forward to doing it again! Upcoming Releases...HEADS ON FIRE and Wish You Weren't Here


WHITE HILLS has just wrapped up production on our new album, HEADS ON FIRE, to be released by ROCKET RECORDINGS out of the UK this coming September. This album finds us playing harder than ever while floating further into space...a nice mix of full throtle energy and mind expansion. We are very pleased with the outcome of this album and are excited to be working with the great people at ROCKET RECORDINGS. Check out their myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/rocketrecordings) to see what else this fine label has to offer.

The beginning of July will finally see the release of the limited edition CD-r collaboration between WHITE HILLS and San Francisco's purveyors of noise WHITE PEE (http://www.myspace.com/whitepee). The release is titled WISH YOU WEREN'T HERE and consists of one 29 minute track of the same name. This release is limited to 85 copies. 50 will be housed in a wood bound cover. 35 will be housed in a jewel case. Each copy will have individualized hand done cover artwork. All copies will be available for sale from Aquarius Records in San Francisco (http://www.aquariusrecords.org).

We will also be playing a number of dates on the East Coast of the US this summer and will be returning to the UK mid to late September to tour in support of HEADS ON FIRE. Keep posted to our myspace page (www.myspace.com/whitehills) for all upcoming dates.

WHITE HILLS: Glitter Glamour Atrocity

"I tell you, White Hills have to be the best band in the US at present. This is a fabulous release brimful of anger and perdition at the war in Iraq and all things Dubya. That this anger is set over a cosmic soundtrack to rival that genre's greatest exponents does little to decrease its charms. Oh no. From the beautiful opening partnership of Air and Waves and Under Skin or by Name right through to the last (the title) track, this is a very focused piece of work and frankly needs to be heard.

Waves begins like a track off Joy Division's Closer, before morphing into Under Skin or by Name Spirit of Exile which kicks all the gloom into touch with a bruising guitar and drum assault. A west coast guitar solo battles in vain with rolling drums; there is a feeling that High Psychic energy levels are at play here. Spirit of Exile Distance takes the reflective side of Neu! and runs with it for all the song is worth, adding plaintive vocals and a brooding sense of menace far removed from Dinger and Rother's attempts at Zen-like meditation. The track morphs (with the aid of a synth that sounds like a desert wind) into the beautiful Distance Somewhere Along the Way, beautiful until the weird buzzing fly noise comes along and gloriously fucks it up.

Still, Somewhere Along the Way keeps the meditational feel going with a mainly acoustic track supplemented by atonal synths that hint at Cluster's early LPs. By total contrast, Love Serves Remember is a crushing behemoth, blowing away all the previous tracks' reflections as soon as the drums, industrial guitar and the marching sounds appear. Welcome to the atrocity exhibition indeed. Mid-song there's a hiatus and a prayerful song as a plane takes off and bombs drop. Then we have a doctored tape of Dubya which is frankly brilliant in its execution and must be heard. Back comes the industrial noise and the feeling of chaos to wrap things up. Passage is a morose interlude, sounding very much like a groggy take on the double bass sample from the Bunnymen's Broke My Neck.

Finally we have Glitter Glamour Atrocity; a fabulous guitar laden stomp, a true sonic slalom (if you can momentarily suspend disbelief at my alliterationƒ) Frankly, the squalling guitars and fabulously empathic drumming never lets up for nigh on 13 minutes, not once. A sampled voice urging us all to pay more attention to the world we live on only adds to the tension. It's absolutely brilliant way to end a truly epic LP.

Think big and bold, and check White Hills out. They are worth it."

New CD...GLITTER GLAMOUR ATROCITY


WHITE HILLS new CD, GLITTER GLAMOUR ATROCITY, is out and available at Aquarius Records (http://www.aquariusrecords.org). Scroll down the main page and you will see the review of it, which is also pasted below. they have a few sound samples up as well.

"NYC's White Hills blew us away last year with a bunch of limited edition, Julian Cope-approved cd-r releases documenting their mesmeric, motorik, heavy, and very Hawkwindy space rock sound. We're now very pleased to have their new full-length album in stock -- and it's a real cd, even though the (cool-looking) digipack it's contained within appears hand-assembled.

This time around, we are initially given the impression that White Hills has decided to mix it up a little, branching off into a more musicianly, refined post-rock realm rather than sticking entirely to the amplification n' effects laden, cosmic droneout krautrockishness set-the-controls ROCK of their cd-rs. Certainly there's more dynamics here, more ambient/acoustic interludes, lots of really pretty, even poppy bits. But what about the heavy hypnotic headnodders? They're here too, don't worry! Fans of Hawkwind, Neu!, Braindonor, Spacemen Three, Comets On Fire, Kinski, Titan, Pharaoh Overlord, etc. will certainly dig the likes of "Love Serve Remember" (which weirdly reminds us of the Painteens) and the distorted, psychedelic, jamming excess of the nearly 15 minute long album-closing title track, among others here. This new White Hills is perhaps more nuanced in some ways than their prior output, but any newfound delicacy hasn't dimmed the drugged dementia of the louder portions of this disc and they've always had their wonderfully blissful side anyway, so we're quite happy with their "progress"!"
